Mission
The mission of OMG is to alleviate poverty and mitigate conflict in some countries and societies in transition.
Actions
- Creation, in collaboration with local and national authorities, of Open Minds Academies providing training courses for youth leaders and for teachers, for potential leaders of community development and employment creating projects
- Creation of Open Minds Centres developing synergies between formal and informal education in the community
- Provision of long term support for participants’ projects through the Open Minds Network
- Creation of Open Minds International to manage and support the Open Minds Initiative
Target countries
- Africa: Kenya, Burundi
- Middle East: Egypt, Jordan, Palestine and later Iraq and Lebanon
Activities in OMG centers:
- Pre-school classes to train children in small projects to introduce curiosity, excitment and as a consequence visible thinking and creativity (Lemshaga model).
- To inspire and support their parents to become entrepreneurs through training (accounting, marketing, expertise through OMA) and financial support (Micro financing).
- To run programs for older children 10-15 years to develop joint projects (teamwork and analytical thinking and good values) – sports, music, small businesses.
- To build trust among children and parents of fighting minorities and the local governments.
- To support the local governments in projects to sustainable Social Development with advice and training by specialists within OMA.
